Since selling photographic art is new to us we have been perusing the community forum to see how other artists are marketing their work. The ImageKind community is very nice, in just the few short months that we have been members the forum has been very helpful and the other artists have been very forthcoming and responsive to questions.
ImageKind seems to be a very good place to feature your artwork for sale. You maintain complete control over your images, reproduction pricing and much more. Not only does imagekind.com give you tools to create professional works of art they also give you tools to advertise. Check directly above our advertiser’s corner on the bottom right corner of this page to see what I mean.
Thursday January 1st – 22nd, The Cache Gallery located in Fort Collins, Colorado is showcasing the photographic works of Thompson Valley High School’s Photography 3 class.
When we arrived at the show it was standing room only and there was quite a buzz surrounding the exhibit. The Loveland High School students presented a wide range of photographic styles. From this group of students I can see that the future of northern Colorado photography is in good hands. The collection includes examples of commercial photography, photoshop design, portraits, conceptual art and photography for the sake of photography…
Representing award-winning & established photographic artists from the USA and abroad, the Cache Gallery’s current offerings can be seen here. Works such as Adrian Davis’s intriguing neutral density timed exposures capturing the abstract motion and colors of nature; Cole Thompson’s simple scenery and life images carefully crafted into flawless pieces of Black and White photographic art. The Cache Gallery participates in the first friday gallery walks from 6-9pm in Olde Town Fort Collins.

Recently, I read a post on the Alamy forum about photographic lighting. Hmmm…what an excellent category for the Photography and Marketing blog! Since Alamy provided inspiration the images in this post are from my Alamy stock photography collection, if you are interested in using any of these images for your creative projects and would like to know licensing information, please connect with us. There are a total of 6 examples with diagrams in this post.
Generally I like to keep lighting as simple as possible, here are some various examples of setups using 1, 2 and 3 lights. Examples with softbox, umbrellas, grids, gobo (go between), or no light modifiers. In my opinion the key to lighting is to see what you have to start with and then modify it to achieve your goal.

During the last couple of months I have been fortunate enough to produce websites for 2 different authors and publishers (It is weird how I have never done any work for an author and then 2 months in a row…)
Anyway this first example is an online store redesign for a fabulously done book about Vintage Hairstyling by Lauren Rennells, excellent idea for Christmas gifts btw.Continue reading →
There are many Milk and Honey songs available on YouTube, but Beck’s is definitely my favorite…
When two of our customers find a way to work together for their mutual benefit we feel very proud. Morning Fresh Dairy, is now offering delivery of honey products from Beeyond the Hive. Both of these local family owned businesses have been producing their natural products for over 100 years, each!! I am so happy about this excellent opportunity to have local Colorado honey delivered to your door!
Can I make money with online affiliate marketing programs? How do affiliate marketing programs work? Good question…you may be wondering this yourself because it does sound like a good way to offset the costs of creating and maintaining a website. Since this is something that my customers ask and also something I would like to know for myself I decided to give it a try and post my findings on this blog. Continue reading →
In October The Loveland Reporter-Herald published an article by Mike Stauder about the monthly meeting held by the Loveland Photographic Society. Once a month LPS puts on a meeting for its membership of roughly 200 people. Each meeting includes a presentation and a photo competition for its members. The meeting for October was held on the 13th and they were nice enough to ask me to make the presentation. Along with the presentation I also had the honor of being a judge in the competition, it was a lot of fun. Click here to see the winners for 2008! The full article follows (isn’t my wife sweet for surprising me and framing it): Continue reading →
“Warren Diggles decided to “dig” into his customization and came up with a very different look. He also set up a CNAME so that he could use his own domain instead of PhotoShelter.com.” – By Allen Murabayashi A Pictures Worth Blog
Today, Photoshelter (The online storefront and archive for serious photographers) posted a story on A Picture’s Worth blog promoting PSA Site Customization.
