One of the Lucky 250 - Alamy Manage Images v2.0 beta
Just a couple of days ago I was reading the Alamy blog about their much anticipated Manage Images v2.0, the online batch image IPTC manager for the Alamy stock photography archive. If you have ever tried managing the keywording of 1000+ images you will know right away why this is a much anticipated release.
I saw that only 250 photographers would be chosen for the test phase before the first site wide version becomes live. Something to look forward to, well I guess it will be a while before I have a chance to use it…Then there it was, right in ‘My Alamy’, nice!! Plus an invitation email, I have been chosen as one of the beta testers!
Alamy.com, buy and sell images at the web’s largest stock photography site with 15.77 million stock photos. It takes a lot of photographers to produce that much professional reproduction quality rights managed stock photography. Very cool, I guess I get to be one of the first to try it…
In the invitation email participants are asked not to give any details, but as soon as I can I will…
Dear Warren,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been selected to be one of the first 250 Alamy contributors who can use the latest version of our new image annotation tool, Manage Images v2.0. You can access this via the link within “My Alamy”.
Aside from being more aesthetically pleasing, Manage Images v2.0 adds a wealth of new features including:
* The ability to set attributes, keywords, captions and restrictions to your images in batches
* Options to search your images by category, filename or keyword
Manage Images v2.0 is still in the beta stage, meaning there are a few features not yet available, including:
* The ability to create new pseudonyms (you can still do this in the current ‘Manage images’ however)
* The ability to add/remove single words to/from existing data when working in batch edit mode
Additional features like those above will be included in future releases.
We’d like to remind you that the tool is live so please be careful, especially in batch edit mode, as any changes made will be applied to your images. You can also still use the old Manage Images tool if you would prefer.
We’re interested in your feedback, so you will shortly receive another e-mail, asking you to participate in a questionnaire about the new tool. We’d be grateful if you could spare a few minutes to take part. If you face any major issues whilst using the tool, please inform us by emailing memberservices@alamy.com. As we are still in the early roll out phase, we would appreciate it if you do not post on our blog or forum about the new tool at this time.
We hope you find Manage Images v2.0 useful.
Kind regards,
The Content Team
